BIOS Mission

The Brain Injury Outcomes Division is an integral part of the Johns Hopkins University Department of Neurology. Daniel F. Hanley, MD, is the Division Director. The major focus of the Division is the data collection and analyses for international multicenter trials. These tasks are organized within a coordinating center known as the Brain Injury Outcomes Service (BIOS). The BIOS center has had a ten year history coordinating multicenter trials using drugs and devices to treat brain injury, both ischemic and hemorrhagic. The center is able to provide data collection and validation routines for multiple points of data and fully integrate reporting and analyses functions with a data collection system through a centralized, consolidated database and experienced personnel.
